In the past 3 years we have met so many AMAZING people, laughed so hard we cried, cried so hard we could only laugh and have made it through some pretty huge ups and downs to come out on the other side of the calendar wiser and ready for the next stage of our little business!
One of the things that we learned, that surprised us the most when we spoke to our clients about their experience with us, was how much of “us” was the experience and how much FUN the experience was. When we set out on this journey we assumed people wanted champagne and chandeliers, swirly frames and art deco fonts. We were so wrapped up in what we wanted our clients to think we were, we TOTALLY missed what we are. We are NOT champagne and chandeliers! We are jelly beans and dancing ladies. We are warm and inclusive (like a great beach vacation).
We are a little more fun than your regular portrait studio! We treat every person like they are a star (and, honestly, for your {modern glam} experience you are)! And even though many of the women (and men, too) who walk into our studio give us a laundry list of physical attributes that they are self conscience about or when they swear to us they have never seen a picture of themselves that they liked, all WE see is a beautiful person standing before us and we can’t wait to show them exactly what we see! AND, even with all this fun, laughter and even sometimes tears of joy, we produce stunning, self-image altering, magazine like photos that will change the way you feel about the way you look!

Tell us about your business
photobin photography is a small portrait studio based in Vancouver, BC and run by husband and wife team Tobin & Sarah Smith. While Tobin primarily takes the shots, I (Sarah) call the shots, which has been a big part of our successful 17 year marriage. Based around our belief that “everyone is beautiful and everyone deserves to see themselves that way” Tobin & I have created the {modern glam} experience.
From the minute you walk into our natural light studio be prepared to be primped, pampered and the centre of attention. Take some time just for you or share the experience with your best friend, sister, mum, partner or family. It is the perfect way to celebrate the special people in your life and create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.
How are you hoping to connect with conference attendees?
We love meeting new people, making friends and being of service. Our hope is to make meaningful connections… and to share a few tips and tricks on how to look great in any photo.
What advice would you give conference attendees?
The number one thing we hear when we meet new people is “I HATE having my photo taken” and “I am not photogenic”. Our reply? It’s not your fault you feel un-photogenic! And, it’s not your fault you hate having your photo taken! Nowadays, we are bombarded with bad photos of ourselves and a bad photo is more the fault of the person behind the camera then the person in front and when we see ourselves, we think, “is that what I REALLY look like”. NO! It’s not! The reason celebrities on the red carpet look good in their photos is that someone has taught them what to do. Come find Tobin (you won’t be able to miss him, he’s probably the only guy here) or myself (Sarah) and we will give you some quick tips to look your best in photos because… IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT YOU FEEL UN-PHOTOGENIC!
