Biography

Janet’s vision is to dedicate her professional expertise to helping young parents and their children achieve their full potential.

She strongly advocates on their behalf with the goal of defeating the stigmas and labels that society has applied to this vulnerable group.

Janet was herself a young parent, feeling at the time, that she had no future, and little opportunity to achieve her own goals. She has a clear understanding of the obstacles that stand in the way of her client’s dreams of success.

She brings over 15 years of not for profit management experience, a Certified Association Executive Designation, a Not For Profit Management Degree from Ryerson University, and her own personal history as a young parent, to her position. She initially became involved with the Rose of Durham in 2005 as a volunteer, then a board member, and quickly jumped at the chance to apply for the position of Executive Director – a role in which she felt she could make the most impact.

Janet is married to her high-school sweetheart and has two children, a 24 year old son, and a 23 year old daughter, a 2 and half year old grandson who is the light of her life, loves animals, scrapbooking, reading, and resides in Courtice.
