canadian women hockey team champions

Giving up should never be an option. The Canadian Women’s Olympic Hockey Team proved that.

As the old adage goes “Winners never quit and Quitters never Win”. I believe in this. So did our champions. They were down and came back in a nail biting victory for Canada.

Is quitting ever an option for you? Have you ever experienced the feeling of running a race and getting to the point where you think your legs are going to break -and your mind is going numb? You feel like you can’t take a step any further but some how you do. You imagine your victory. Crossing the finish line will feel so sweet.

Sport is the way I found my true spirit. As a child I was never athletic – I was uncoordinated and never found a sport that fit me. I danced, I found gymnastics and competed but never really felt it was my true sport.

Then at work, on a lunch time break a friend told me that I should try going for a run with her. Over the run we decided on a 5 K race as a goal. I completed that goal and then went on to a 8 K, then a 10K, followed by a 15 K Race and finally 2 half marathons! I found my competitive spirit finally and a drive within me I never knew I had.

Setting athletic goals for yourself will help with your determination to excel in other areas of your life. You begin to have more confidence and are willing to take more risks.

Challenge yourself and prove to yourself and others that you have in yourself to succeed in ways you never thought were possible.
