OneStory is a social enterprise that enables organizations and individuals to collect beautiful video interviews from anyone, anywhere in the world to raise awareness about important causes through storytelling. Our technology provides guided interviews, automatic editing and submission of the videos to make capturing and sharing stories easy.
OneStory has been used to share hundreds of stories of change since 2013 including:
– Stories from our House, Ronald McDonald House
– #HeforShe campaign in Albania, United Nations Women
– Ethical Leadership Tips, Dalai Llama Fellows
– Intergenerational Effects of Residential Schools, Mount Royal Collegiate
– Murdered and Missing Women, CBC
– Love Stories from across Canada. Montreal Gazette
– Power of Mentorship, Summer Search
– Stories from children in Bosnia and Croatia, Firefly International
Organizations purchase interview campaigns to gather stories for awareness or to show appreciation to their donors. Our technology has collected stories from across Canada and are starting to move into the United States and international organizations.
We have grown from a founding team of two to four full-time employees and five dedicated contractors. Our technology was chosen as one of six Canadian companies invited to World’s Best Technology in San Diego in 2014 and we are in the Top 15 startups according to the National Angel Summit. Our videos and resulting social media campaigns have shared the messages of social good with millions of people.
We have the belief that ” “Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world today.”(Robert McKee) and that online video is the most powerful form of modern storytelling. We aim to make it easy for people to share their voice with the world.
OneStory is a social purpose business with the mission to empower organizations and individuals to collect and share stories through guided video collection. We provide a means for advocacy through education and celebration.
In accordance with our mission, we provide affordable video services as well as donate our video and social media services to groups like the United Nations Women in Albania, who are collecting videos of men standing up for womens rights and sharing them on social media and at football games to encourage more men to think of the issue.
We also donate social media power to causes such as #WomeninTech. As only 3% of women lead high-tech companies in North America, we felt it important to encourage a conversation with this highly influential industry. Through OneStory, Katrina spearheaded a campaign that connected with 2.8 million people on twitter on International Womens Day and had videos submitted from around North America.
We also worked on an initiative with Firefly International for kids in Bosnia and Palestine to tell the story of what they want to be when they grow up. These amazing stories show a very important message – these are just kids in a VERY difficult environment.
Our entire business is geared to give back – and we do so everyday through our videos, donated services and regularly speaking to large groups of people about the power of social for good.
