Have you found yourself feeling like you’re doing all you can but that (a) it’s nowhere near good enough compared to what you know you’re capable of and (b) you’re not really accomplishing anything. You may have big goals, but you feel like you won’t ever reach them on your own.
So why not ask for help? Why not collaborate with other people to really brainstorm ways to reach those goals, come up with new ideas for working together and perhaps increase the positive impact it could have on the lives of so many?
Sometimes, the answer may be that you’re afraid. You may feel like the people you would like to work with are much more knowledgeable or qualified than you are. So maybe you don’t even ask and instead find yourself stuck listening to those negative voices in your mind and doing the “same old, same old”, feeling frustrated that you’re not seeing the results you would like.
So what can you do to break through those walls of “stuckness”?
Do research and connect
Look online. Talk to people you meet. Be open to opportunity anywhere and everywhere. Post some of the projects you would like to work on in some relevant Facebook groups to see who might connect with your message. And when those doubts start crowding your mind, smile – and keep talking and posting about the work you would like to do anyway. You never know you will hear that message and love to work together with you to bring this goal to fruition in a big, new and innovative way.
Do your homework
Being prepared will make you feel more confident and will allow you to present your ideas in a more self-assured and attractive way. When you fully believe in what you are saying and have done your homework, you are much more likely to receive positive feedback and more people saying yes when it aligns with their schedules and goals as well.
Don’t let rejection stop you
Sometimes, your idea may be absolutely amazing, but not everyone sees it. Maybe some people you’d like to collaborate with say no because they’re just too busy right now. Refine your idea as you go, but don’t let one – or maybe more than one – no stop you.
Be willing to see from different points of view
If you are absolutely stuck on only seeing things the way you’ve always seen them and are hesitant to try something new, there really isn’t that much opportunity for innovation. Be open to conversations, ideas and opportunities to work with people you may never have thought of before. Stay committed to your values and build out from that by being open and inviting.
Build a community
One person can have an amazing idea and can achieve so much. To multiply those results, build a community and support network to brainstorm ideas and keep moving forward with innovation, connection and breakthrough results that one person acting alone may only be able to dream about.

Hi Sandra,
Thank you so much! It can be so easy to get stuck in our own minds and, knowingly or not, talk ourselves out of what would be beneficial for us and others. Sometimes we just need some tangible strategies to keep us moving forward.
