My very bloggy friend Mara Shapiro told me about a website last week called Pinterest last week…… I said "What’s That?" and Mara proceeded to laugh at me affectionately when I told her I had not heard about Pinterest yet… How 2011 of me ….
Pinterest is similar to Facebook and Twitter in that it allows you to follow your favourite "pinners" who post photos from web sites (or even their personal own collection – think a picture of beautiful meal they just made….) on things that they find interesting or inspiring.
Pinterest would certainly appeal to designers, artists and other professions that love looking at images for inspiration. Say hello Martha!
According to Mara you have to be asked to join Pinterest (she send me an invite to join) and then you look for people to follow through Facebook etc. Next step is to then add a "Pin It" link to your browser bookmarks and start pinning away…. I set my account – feel free to check it out.
Like Stumble Upon It you can choose to follow a variety of subjects that you are interested in and create your own subjects. Finding time to engage with yet another social media platform is time consuming but from early reports I can tell that Pinterest is creating a lot of buzz and seems to be more popular then Google+
So if you like to see the latest & maybe the greatest – Pinterest is where it is at (for today at least).
