Paris is Landing—Isabel Marant for H&M

On November 14^th, one of the most breathlessly anticipated global capsule collection events is going to take place and I, along with my intrepid and fashionable partner in crime, have sights set with cold, calculated, precision. After months of plotting over pedicures, there’s just a week to go before all (or some) of her boho, insouciant, glory will be ours!

Who is Isabel Marant? She is none other than the French designer who we can all thank for the wedge sneaker (yes, that one), amongst many other wondrous sartorial raison d’êtres, and is, in my books, a serious bad ass—only a Parisienne could forgo hair dye and let the gray time rolls with such chic aplomb.

So, what’s the plan? After our wildly successful and adrenaline-inducing trial run with Phillip Lim 3.1 x Target, we feel optimistic about the H&M launch. Past victory aside, we are no fools, and refuse to make amateurish mistakes—this is not the time to be lackadaisical in planning our attack, and a 7:00 AM line-up with Starbucks isn’t, unfortunately, going to cut it this time. After some recon work from both sides, my chum and I (we really need a team name, no?), have decided that a 4:00 AM landing, warmed by caffeine, wool and dreams of retail victory, is our most reasonable approach (we do, after all, have children and husbands to tend to, and sleep is a precious enough commodity as it is—even more so, some days, than fringed booties and leather pants).

A crucial part of any capsule collection endeavour is to know what your goals are, and to keep them realistic. As such, the most beautiful piece in this collection is just not making my list—the cost is rather prohibitive (almost $400), but more importantly it will be a battle attempting to get my wee little hands on it, and I’m ill equipped—short nails and an inability to handle blood—to foray into such early morning carnage.
