Is anyone feeling nervous about meeting in person after a long hiatus?

Many people think that I love meeting in person, given the nature of my work, but even I have to convince myself to attend events. If you are feeling nervous or unmotivated, follow these proven hacks…

Write down “why” you want to attend.

If you can’t answer, then maybe this isn’t for you. Think about how you will feel after you attend and what you hope to get out of it.

Look for facilitated networking.

If you are more on the shy side, then look for events where they facilitate at least some of networking to help get you started. Have a plan before you get to the event. Try to get a buddy to attend with you to support each other.

Practice your “round table” introduction with friends and family.

Ever sat at a round table and had to introduce yourself? It can be a somewhat intimidating feeling, especially if you are transitioning in your career or business life. Practice at home with a friend or family member to determine how you respond. Keep it short, sweet and NATURAL. You can adjust depending on whom you are speaking with and whether you are introducing yourself one-on-one or in a group setting.
