Therese Lean of Therese Lean Coaching is one busy gal. She’s currently finishing a degree, planning a wedding AND running a new business!  Her boundless energy makes her the perfect coach to drive you to a healthier, more confident you.

1. Tell us about your business.

Therese Lean Coaching serves to help those who are determined to create a healthy lifestyle for themselves but have no idea where to begin. Through one-on-one coaching, workshops, seminars and more I guide people to learn how to create effective goals, discover their motivations, and work towards a permanent action plan to achieve their dreams all while having fun and increasing confidence!

Changing your health is hard work but with someone there who knows what you’re going through and has the expertise to help you make the necessary changes (inside as well as out), it can also be fun!

2. Other than being an entrepreneur, who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I’m a 32 year old silly redhead who is passionate about her family, friends, fiance and life in general. I am just finishing up my psychology degree which I decided to finish two years ago and am simultaneously planning my wedding for next fall! I have not yet gone insane!

I love fitness of all types but you can usually find me running around The Danforth area or at yoga. Recently I’ve decided to get down and dirty with some intense HIIT workouts and highly recommend them! I also plan to get my personal training certification in the new year!

I love to cook and especially bake but have yet to gain enough confidence to make more than a couple of things without a recipe in front of me. In a different life I think I would like to be a baker (I just wouldn’t want to get up at 3am every morning to do it.)

I’m also a movie lover, book lover, wannabe Mom who loves lists, creating goals and learning new things. I’m always up for trying something new and making new friends even though I’m a bit of an introvert.

I’m an amateur knitter and cross-stitcher, I love the number 7 and the colour aqua.

3. What motivated you to go into business for yourself?

Having been overweight my entire life I have run the gamut of diet programs and none of them worked. What I found DID work was something I didn’t find in any book or famous program, it came from within me. It was working on my own inner being that helped me to turn my health and my life around. When I took my health and life into my own hands, everything changed! I lost 85lbs, took up running, worked on my personal issues and now, four years later, I’m healthier and happier than I ever thought possible!

Through this transition I noticed that there were few resources out there that worked with the behaviour changes necessary to lose weight yet I found many, many people asking me how I did it. That’s when I decided there was a need for this knowledge and decided to go into coaching!

4. How do you overcome challenges and obstacles in your business?

My business is still in its infancy so many obstacles are still there but throughout the process I’ve had to keep in mind why I’m doing. I know I have a great message and can truly help people to turn their lives around so when I’m having a bad day or aren’t sure of what the heck to do, I remember that and then I talk to my fiance about it. He’s been such a fountain of support for me that he calms me down so I can talk it out and come up with a solution or just deal with the feelings until they pass.

5. What are your greatest strengths as an entrepreneur?

My greatest strengths as an entrepreneur are my determination and creativity. As a young business I know that the first few years can be difficult but I believe in my work and am so passionate about my message that I am determined to do whatever it takes to keep going and get that message out there. My creativity helps me to come up with any number of ideas to market my business, get my message across during calls and create fun seminars and workshops which help people to get my message and walk away with a smile on their faces!

6. What are you most passionate about in your business?

My message. I know everyone has what it takes to achieve their goals and I am so passionate about spreading that message and creating excitement in my clients and those around me. We are all so much more capable than we give ourselves credit for and the look on people’s faces when they realize this is indescribable!

7. What is one piece of helpful advice you would give to other entrepreneurs?

Never forget why you got into your business, be patient and ACT!
