Tell us about your business
Norse legend tells tales of the Valkyrie. These brave women of battle could decide who would die in battle and who would live. Those who died would join the Goddess Freya in the realm of Folkvang. Those who lived would go to Valhalla and be trained as Einherjar, in preparation for the event of Ragnarok (That’s the end of the world!)
But now it’s the 21st century! Times have changed, and the battles of old have ended and the Einherjar have all been selected. The Gods of Asgard have now become fascinated with modern technology, and multimedia and the Valkyrie’s are now in charge of deciding which graphics live and which ones die.
Welcome to Valkyrie Design. Take off your coat and have a seat. I’m here to help you with all your design and branding needs. I work primarily with individuals and businesses that are creative, progressive or spiritual. I can teach you how to do things yourself or I can do them for you. The choice is up to you.
You might even get treated to some mead as a show of my hospitality!
I’m a queer trans aspie who has found her place in the world!
I’m a creative and an artist always have multiple side projects going, my main one being a roleplaying game about a diverse cast of characters. In the long run I’d like to find folks to help with it, but for now, I’m just doing it as a hobby right now.
I’m spiritual. I am a Wiccan with Buddhist flavorings. Both faith systems resonate well with me and blend into one another. I love spirituality and respect the beliefs of all people so long as that individual has respect for the dignity and rights of others.
I’m passionate about feminism and social justice and believe there is a lot wrong in the world and the people in charge aren’t doing enough to fix it. I currently volunteer for a poverty alleviation initiative called Food Not Bombs, where we cook and feed hot meals to poor or homeless people in the park. I also facilitate a facebook group that helps network autistic creatives, freelancers and entrepreneurs so they can help support each other and collaborate. I’m hoping to do more with it as my budget grows but for now, it’s just a tiny seed that I’m trying to cultivate into something that I feel is important and necessary.
I’m a huge geek. I love games (of all kinds), reading and watching sci-fi and fantasy and I have a love for anime and cartoons. I’m also a nerd and love to learn new things about science, history, language, and culture.
I love to travel. So far I haven’t been outside of Canada or the US, but I want to get out more and see the world. I would eventually like to become a digital nomad and work on creative projects abroad while volunteering in other countries.
I also ramble about the things I’m passionate about so, if you made it this far, kudos to you! 🙂

What advice would you give to other business owners?
Don’t do it alone and don’t be afraid to take calculated risks. I wish had realized that, myself, so much sooner. It would have saved me so much frustration and isolation.
