Do business like you mean it
I’m thrilled to be joining WIBN as the resident DotCominatrix. I first met Leigh just after she launched WIBN and I’ve enjoyed watching this community bloom like a lily on a spring morning – fresh, vibrant and full of zest.
When Leigh invited me to be part of her team, I was of two minds. Honored to be asked and incredibly excited about the opportunities ahead. I’m looking forward to getting to know each of you throughout the next year.
A bit about me…
I’m a serial networker, information junkie, buzz-builder, avid blogger and social media strategist. I focus on building and nurturing communities for the companies I work for and the organizations I serve. For me, social media is the radio of the 80’s. It’s where we find our information and where we share it. It’s universal and used as heavily by brands as it is by individuals. And it’s where we’ll shine a spotlight during 2012.
You may have read my bio and followed my professional career path on LinkedIn, know that I’m one of the founding organizers for Canada’s first 140 Conference and am the President of WithIt.org, but I’d also like to share more about myself as we begin our year together. I’m a passionate supporter of mentoring and networking with women and live by the mantra, work hard and play harder. I have a husband and four kids, who daily remind me the absolute need for balance – they don’t settle for less than their fair share.
I’m looking forward to getting to know you all better and working alongside you this year. We are going to do something truly remarkable together here.
To kick off 2012 with a strong focus on professional development, I’m pleased to announce two events you won’t want to miss.
Idea Factory with Deb Weinstein – Feb 21, 2012
Deb Weinstein, President of Strategic Objectives, is also one of Canada’s most successful entrepreneurs. Her agency was recently named PR agency of the year by PRNews but they’ve also won a plethora of awards, including Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, United Nations Grand Award and Top 100 entrepreneurs in Canada to name just a few.
Deb joins us for an evening of scintillating conversations and to share her journey as a female entrepreneur in what was once a male-dominated industry. Some of the topics she’ll touch on include how she:- Catapulted engagement with clients in a sustainable way
- Fine-tuned strategy without losing momentum
- Focused on process when needed and ditched it when it wasn’t
- Scooped customers from lazy competitors

Annual Conference ~ Rediscover SMART – May 31st & June 1st, 2012
Last year’s conference sold out three weeks after tickets were released and with the line-up we’re working on for this year, we’re thinking these tickets are going to go fast.
But what is SMaRT? You might think it’s: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. But WIBN is not an MBA program so we’re jazzing up this old acronym and making it about 2012 and what it takes to get ahead in business.
Rediscover SMaRT
S – Social media as a sales & marketing tool, not a time waster
M – Mentoring and why you must give to get
a – Agility and where to find it, harness it and use it (it’s a small *a* to remind us to be innovative, kind and playful)
R – Return on inspiration, innovation & interaction
T – Theory shmeory, let’s get practical
We’ll be announcing speakers and ticket sales later in February but be sure to reserve May 31st and June 1st for two action-packed days of learning and networking.
Enough about me, I can’t wait to hear from YOU and learn how I can serve you better in my new role at WIBN.
Leave a comment below or find me online – I’m always on: Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
