The Art of Marketing Inc. was created in 1999 by Wendy Marlow in response to the growing need for marketing and sales expertise for small businesses.
In the late 90′s, research revealed that people were leaving their corporate jobs (both voluntarily and involuntarily) and starting their own business to enhance their quality of life and/or generate an income. What Wendy noticed was that while people were proficient in their craft, they were not proficient in marketing and sales. Through an ingenious survey, Wendy was able to identify and confirm the 3 biggest obstacles small business owners face: (1) finance (2) marketing and (3) sales. In particular, small business owners identified “getting their name out there” as their most complex of tasks, and often the one ignored. Ask Wendy about her ingenious survey that resulted in a >95% response rate.
Wendy Marlow worked in corporate environments for more than 25 years, 19 of them with a health care company in Mississauga. As the company grew, so did Wendy’s responsibilities and knowledge base. She did everything from buying cars and office furniture to creating incentive travel and bonus/recognition programs. But it was in marketing that she found her passion, drive and the creative expression she loved. In 1999 Wendy left her corporate life behind as she spread her entrepreneurial wings. She has never regretted her decision and is profoundly thankful for her corporate experience.

Blogging and being online has always been about community building and networking. Through these networks friendships are built, trust is earned and word of mouth becomes the strongest recommendation one can make.
As “Crunchy Carpets” I have developed my brand and identity on my own blog, Twitter and Facebook. I have seen for myself the power of social media and the effect it can have as part of a marketing campaign. I have been able to build targeted and focused followers for a company that started with nothing.
I have consulted for several businesses that target working moms and busy lifestyles and has been featured on Vancouver Mom as one of the TOP Vancouver Mom Bloggers. I was an invited panelist at Northern Voice 2010 and 2011, and worked with Limelite PR on a panel of Mom Bloggers called ‘Harnessing the Power of Digital Mums, where we introduced PR and Marketing reps to the world of the Mom Blogger.
I understand how ‘network’ marketing works. I understand that creating the right ‘voice’ in social media is crucial to developing a positive online brand for your company, product or self.
Let me take a moment of your time to show you how I can help develop your online personality.

Susan Schenk is an experienced (20 years), online, get-real (or in other words: savvy) Parent/Occupational Therapist/Approachable Person. She is the person behind ‘Technology & Tools for kids’ and the book ‘Beyond Ok: From Invisible to Invincible’.
Susan is known for her ability to strategize and execute a plan to allow Occupational Therapists and Parents help kids move forward in developing the skills they need for school.
The focus is on what is needed now while never losing sight of the big goal down the road.
She is not a typical Occupational Therapist (just ask her co-workers and friends, they will tell you!). She is an OUTSIDE THE BOX type of person and motivated by passion…
She does this by showing and explaining to Parents and OTs how to use technology and other tools to help kids learn ‘their way’ and gain skills in a step-by-step manner. She supports Occupational Therapist in her International Online Program called iPads at School. She supports Parents in her Parent Strategy Sessions at Technology & Tools for kids — and in her new Invincible Mama Program at Beyond OK (for kids with learning differences).
Susan tells her story in her Beyond Ok: From Invisible to Invincible book. It’s her story about learning differently and how she tapped into her abilities to help her children and develop a new approach to therapy and learning. She developed a program after completing her book called the “Invincible Mama Program”. This program was born out of the desire to help Moms support their children that learn differently in a new and powerful way.
How does she know that she has achieved success? She can see it on a parent & child’s face!
