Time to Thrive Podcast: Starting Over – Building a business in a new country

We hope you enjoy this episode of the Time to Thrive Podcast. My interview with Nicky had me pumped up to take on the world as he has. Nicky came to Canada after living in both India and the Canary Islands in Spain. He built his business the old school way – knocking on hundreds of doors each day. He talked to me about investing with your values in mind, leveraging your connections and getting comfortable asking for help.

Meet Nicky Kumar K. Tahil, Investment & Wealth Advisor, RBC Wealth Management

Whether your goals are to travel the world, save for your child’s education, prepare for your retirement or simply to make a plan, I can help you put together a financial strategy to meet your needs. I am proud to be a part of the RBC Wealth Management family.

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. My passions are travelling, reading and playing guitar. I’m also a runner and have done several marathons including ultras. For the last two years, I have been running to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease in Toronto.

What inspires me?

Being part of my client’s lives when they achieve their financial goals. Goals are different for different people, and I love to be inspired by what motivates my clients while playing an active role in their success, whatever that means to them.

As a former small business owner myself, I know the challenges of running a small business and the rewarding feeling that is also possible. I understand that all businesses and all business owners are different, and my mission is to develop a deep understanding of both you and your business. I prioritize face-to-face or virtual meetings (your preference) at a time that works within your schedule, and host networking events and seminars to help grow your business and financial knowledge.

My practice focuses on:

  • Families in transition
  • Pre-retirees focusing on building their nest egg
  • Retirees looking to maximize after-tax income
  • Those looking for assistance with Estate planning
  • Business owners looking for strategies like tax-minimization, insurance, and maximizing retirement pension income
  • Foundations and not-for-profits with investment management needs under specific guidelines

My clients include:

  • Healthcare professionals
  • Lawyers, Accountants, Engineers
  • Female professionals looking to grow their independent wealth
  • Newcomers to Canada to help guide and prioritize their needs.
