Why do you think mentorship is crucial to the success of a professional woman? What advice would you give to a woman who needs a mentor?
Being an entrepreneur can be really lonely and sometimes you just need someone to bounce an idea off of or find a quick answer to something or simply give you a boost of confidence that you are going in the right direction. Having someone that can guide you and share their own experiences can help to spark a great new idea or way of looking at things or help you feel like you are moving in the right direction
What qualities do you think a mentor needs to create a good relationship with their mentee?
Great qualities of a mentor are the ability to listen closely to understand the mentee’s strengths and weaknesses and be able to recommend options that fit in well with the mentees style – it’s not my way or the high way. I think it is also very important to give honest feedback even if that can sometimes be hard to hear, because in the long run that will serve people better.
What qualities does a mentee need to succeed?
To succeed a mentee should ask lots of questions, take action on feedback or connections that the mentor suggests and be open to trying different ways of doing things that they might not have thought of before or think they already knew.
What is the best advice your mentor has given to you?
Keep it scrappy – done is better than perfect.
You are quotable! What wise words would you like to share?
When you are faced with big challenges or something seems impossible, try and break it down to the simplest low tech version possible – understand what that solution would be first and then build on that.
